Diving and snorkelling
With over 100km of coastline and the warm Pacific Ocean as part of our backyard, we’re in close vicinity to arguably one of the world’s best dive sites, the Ex-HMAS Brisbane (just off the coast of Mooloolaba). Further north, the underwater scenic beauty continues to Wolf Rock dive site, which is the only known gestation spot for Grey Nurse Sharks on Australia’s East Coast. It’s only natural that diving and snorkelling opportunities are part of our DNA!
Mudjimba Island might be a familiar sight for anyone strolling along the beach, but did you know you can also snorkel off it? Accessible by boat, this is a premium snorkelling paradise, filled with dolphins, turtles, stingrays, crayfish, wobbegongs, eels and starfish.
If you’re a snorkelling or diving beginner, never fear. The Sunshine Coast has plenty of action-packed guided tours and opportunities that will allow you to experience our wonderous ‘underwater side’.
Whether it’s joining the grey nurse sharks in a spectacular dive with Wolf Rock Dive, heading out on a fun dive at Mudjimba Island with The Pressure Project, exploring the HMAS Brisbane wreck with Sunreef, or jumping on a spearfishing tour with Blue Tortuga Adventures, it’s time to slip on the flippers and strap on the snorkel. The ocean is calling!
