Better known by locals as ‘Alex Surf Club’, this Sunshine Coast institution has set its foundations in the sand for a full century. Come 5:30am, the Beachside Kiosk opens its doors for early-risers chasing a warm coffee to start the day, while later on, the Lookout Bistro takes centre stage with its moreish fare. Set yourself up with a bucket of Mooloolaba prawns, or opt for something a little fancier like local swordfish marinated in garlic and lemon. With live music keeping the beats rolling on Thursday through to Sunday each week at the Bluff Bar, this is the ideal coastal hotspot to unwind... day or night.

You won’t get much closer to the beach than at the Noosa Heads Surf Lifesaving Club. Stroll straight in from the beach for a casual meal on the deck, where the sea breeze keeps things light and fresh. Take a seat for lunch or settle back at dinner-time as the moon glimmers on the water beyond. The menu keeps things on-brand with its ‘small waves’ like Noosa-style bruschetta and prawn cocktails, and kid-friendly tucker like fish and chips. With the scenic Noosa National Park trails and myriad of sparkling coves nearby, we know you’ll have no problem working up an appetite!   

Maroochy Surf Club

If you’re staying in Cotton Tree or Maroochydore, keep things easy and delicious at the Maroochy Surf Club. While boasting everything you’d want from a classic club, this local haunt also elevates its menu with some finer fare at the Flags Bistro. Enjoy spring rolls with sweet chilli sauce, smoked chicken and pecan salad, roast of the day, and more. Alternatively, keep things simple and watch the sun go down with a chilled glass of wine or a beer from the Surf Bar.

Did someone say good food? Barely a stone’s throw from the ocean, Coolum Surf Club makes sure no one leaves hungry. If you’re enjoying a weekend stay, make sure to stop in for their Sunday Breakfast, where warm mushroom omelettes and breakfast wraps keep the post-surf cravings at bay. Once lunch and dinner rolls around, it’s hard to go past a 500g serve of fresh local prawns direct from the Mooloolaba trawlers, piled alongside cocktail sauce and lemon. Alternatively, load up on steamed bao buns or the Yellow Seafood Curry, which you’ll find brimming with scallops, local reef fish, and more.

Located only a short stroll along Sunshine Beach's main street, the Sunshine Beach Surf Club offers a spacious dining experience with stunning views looking out across the ocean. Here, you’ll be in the prime position to enjoy all-day dining from 11.30am daily, or tuck into their moreish brekky fare on weekends from 8am. As twilight descends on the beach, take a seat on the outdoor deck to enjoy cocktails, a cold beer, or a glass of wine from their wide range. You also won’t want to miss the carefully crafted menu with many of your favourites, plus a range of other delicious creations. Come for the bar, dining and live music, or simply visit to enjoy the sight of whales swimming close to the beach. Located right near the iconic ocean pool in Caloundra, this popular jaunt knows how to deliver a good time. With views and brews aplenty, you’ll be set to tuck into everything from karaage chicken bites to fish tacos with a charred corn and jalapeno salsa. Oh, and did we mention this spot is open seven days a week? 

Dicky Beach Surf Club

Dicky Beach Surf Club in Caloundra refers to itself as ‘the Sunshine Coast’s best hidden treasure’ and it won’t take you long to find out why. Once you’ve had your fill of the ocean, make tracks up to the club for a feed at The Wreck Bistro. Whether you’re visiting on Tuesday lunchtime or Saturday night, you’ll find plenty to tuck into from a menu brimming with fresh ingredients. Even if you’ve just stopped by the beach for an afternoon stroll, don't miss the chance to pop in for a snack or two from the specialty offerings at the bar between 2pm and 5pm. It’s also a feel-good dining experience, as each visit helps contribute towards keeping our lifesavers out on the water.

Get the good vibes rolling at the Marcoola Surf Club, where quality live music sets the tone every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. With a chilled brew in hand, a meal at the bistro in front of you, and the Pacific Ocean providing an iconic backdrop, you’ll be set for a fabulous beachside dining experience. Sweet tooths will also love the dessert menu, which includes an apple and strawberry crumble, as well as a sticky date and peanut butter caramel served warm with ice-cream and fresh berries. Topping it all off, this spot is located barely eight minutes away from the Sunshine Coast Airport, allowing you to be immersed in our local surf club culture almost as soon as you step off the plane.
