You’ll want to set aside a full day to experience all that the Nambour region has to offer. After all, your agenda will be brimming with a zoo visit, a zipline, a tipple at an award-winning distillery, and dinner at a classic Italian pizzeria. So, get your travel planner out, and let’s go exploring!
Wildlife HQ
Feeding the meerkats at Wildlife HQ
Come prepared to fill up your camera roll with snaps of Tasmanian Devils, Red Pandas, Maned Wolves, Capybaras, and more. Located amongst an ancient subtropical rainforest in Woombye (right next door to the Big Pineapple, making it hard to miss), Wildlife HQ is fast making a name for itself as a family-friendly zoo with a laidback atmosphere. If you’re keen to meet some furry friends up close, you can also book an encounter with a range of animals – including Emperor Tamarins, Marmosets, and Meerkats.
Nambour Public Art Trail
Street Art, Nambour
Edgy, vibrant street art isn’t exclusive to Melbourne (*wink*). When you arrive in Nambour, make sure to bring a copy of the town’s Public Art Trail with you. While meandering along the leafy streets, you’ll have the chance to enjoy a diverse range of vibrant outdoor art which celebrates everything from native wildlife to Indigenous culture. Pieces to look out for on the approximately 3km loop include the ‘Possum’, ‘Willy & Howie and the Howard Street Crew’, and ‘From Mountains to the Sea’.
TreeTop Challenge
If you’re looking for an extra shot of adrenaline to liven up your holiday, look no further than the TreeTop Challenge. Strap up your harness and pop on a helmet to tackle this epic high-ropes course and zipline park set deep amongst the lush forest surrounds. With the highest course reaching over 30m above ground (don’t look down!) and plenty of ziplines to get the heart racing, you’ll find plenty to keep you entertained. Best of all, it’s not just for kids – adults can get in on the fun as well.
Vintage Trail
Vintage treasures are the name of the game in Nambour. Redesign your wardrobe or home with fashionable relics from the past as you explore the 19+ stores throughout town. Popular spots include Back Beat Records, where you’ll find vinyl records and music collectibles, and Mr Beesley’s Vintage Clothing, which is packed with timeless garments. If you need a breather between stores, make sure to stop off for a quick coffee at Small Change Espresso to refuel. Not sure where to start? For a helpful guide, download the Nambour Op Shop Shopping Trail available here.
Sunshine & Sons
Sunshine & Sons, Woombye
The fun doesn’t stop once your zipline and zoo visits end! Next door to the Treetop Challenge is Sunshine & Sons – an integral part of our iconic Queensland’s Sunshine Pantry. Here, you’ll find a thriving distillery that champions sustainability and local flavours (the Pineapple Parfait gin is a must-try). Enjoy a tipple overlooking their lush Woombye paddock and peruse the range of spirits on offer in the gift shop corner. If you’re looking for some added inspiration, Sunshine & Sons also offer delicious cocktail recipes on their website.
Maiori Pizzeria
Maiori Pizzeria, Nambour
Maiori Pizzeria boasts a delightful feast of woodfired goodness and authentic Italian flavours. Noted as one of the best pizza spots on the Sunshine Coast, you’ll quickly feel at home amongst the cosy restaurant surrounds. Menu items include classics like Queen Margherita and Salame, with trendy favourites such as Calzone and Capricciosa also on offer. Takeaway is available, but we recommend dining in, for the ultimate pizzeria experience.
Robinson Falls
Discover one of the best kept waterfall secrets on the Sunshine Coast at Robinson Falls. Tucked away in the picturesque Cilento Park, Robinson Falls is a bubbling oasis hidden away only 3km from the bustling Nambour CBD. Enjoy a leisurely picnic amongst the lush forest surrounds and dip your toes into the cooling waterhole. This is a fabulous spot to enjoy a moment of serenity and to fully immerse yourself in the region’s scenic natural surrounds.
