Rainbow Beach is nestled between K’gari (formerly Fraser Island), Great Sandy National Park, and the expansive Pacific Ocean. Here you will discover an adventure playground with striking natural beauty, including Carlo Sand Blow and Double Island Point.

Striking in beauty and rippled with colourful ancient sand dunes, the coastal town of Rainbow Beach is nestled between K’gari (formerly Fraser Island) and Cooloola National Park. A true representation of the vast landscape of Queensland’s stunning coastline, you can sink your feet into the golden sand of the Carlo Sandblow, hike through the sub-tropical rainforest fringing the dunes, or explore the rainbow hues of the seaside beach cliffs.

If you want to explore further, you can holiday like a Hemsworth on a 4x4 off-road adventure, or join a tour with Great Beach Drive 4WD Tours. Venture around the coastal headland to Double Island Point, where you can join the crew from Epic Ocean Adventures to kayak with dolphins or dive into the pristine waters of the protected northern beaches. Alternatively, stretch your legs and hike up to the historic lighthouse that was built in 1884 and is now operating on solar power. Don't be afraid to leave the beach and venture inland, either, where stunning local favourites like Seary's Creek and Poona Lake are only a short drive away.

If you're keen to get the adrenaline flowing, you can also dive with Grey Nurse Sharks year-round through Wolf Rock Dive Centre, or take to the skies with Rainbow Beach Helicopters.
Multi-day adventures across the Cooloola coastline can be found on the spectacular Cooloola Great Walk.
